History
In 2001, the first edition of Steven Shepard’s book Telecom Crash Course was published. It became an instant “must read” for all telecom professionals. Selling over thousands of copies and translated into 6 languages.
In 2004, Steven and Bruce Degn (formerly with USTelecom) worked together to produce the Telecom Crash Course conference at USTelecom’s industry show in Las Vegas. The conference was a resounding success with standing room only.
Bruce and Steven created the Executive Crash Course Company in 2006. Executive Crash Course’s online Telecom Crash Course has become the premier web-based curriculum and community for telecom executives.
Today
Executive Crash Course provides comprehensive executive education, industry know-how and a “community” network to the telecom industry—focusing on Telecom Management and Leadership, Finance and Tax, Strategic Sales and Marketing. Executive Crash Course offers products, services and programs that are relevant, timely and content-rich.

Steven Shepard
Principal & Co-founder
Mr. Shepard founded the Shepard Communications Group in Williston, Vermont. A professional author and educator with more than 25 years of varied experience in the telecommunications industry, he has written more than 30 books and numerous industry magazine articles and White Papers. Mr. Shepard has participated in and produced Webinars, Podcasts and training videos. He is an internationally sought after speaker and consultant with clients in more than 70 countries.
Bruce Degn
Principal & Co-founder
Mr. Degn is a telecom marketing veteran with over 10 years of experience in the telecom industry, including four years at USTelecom, the largest Washington DC trade association representing the telecom industry. During his tenure at USTelecom he developed the Triple Play Summit, Webinar series and Telecom Engineering Conference.
Richard “Dick” Pecor
Chief Knowledge Officer, Telecom Practice
Mr. Pecor is a veteran of 38 years in the telecom business. During a 26 year RBOC career he filled technical and management roles in Switching and Outside Plant Engineering Departments. He has spent the last 13 years teaching telecommunications to industry and college audiences and continues a consulting practice focused on telecom network design.
