Experience

Based in Parsippany, NJ, Jim is a National Tax Partner in the Deloitte Tax LLP Technology, Media & Telecommunications Practice who dedicates all of his time to providing tax consulting and advisory services to players in the telecommunications industry.  Jim leads the Deloitte Tax U.S. Telecommunications Tax Practice and has been named the Deloitte & Touche Global Tax Industry Leader for Telecommunications. 

Aided by his significant industry background, Jim has been focused on providing guidance for companies in or entering the converging communications space.  Jim’s experience includes income, franchise, sales and use taxes as well as specialized assistance for mergers, acquisitions, dispositions and restructures.  Jim is a specialist in providing industry advisory services in the financial controls area with regard to 404 analyses and remediation.  Although based in New Jersey, Jim’s focus is national as well as global and he devotes most of his time to identification, research and implementation of tax minimization strategies and business advisory services for a broad range of communications clients.

Jim has in-depth knowledge and experience throughout the telecommunications and related industries, including more than five years of experience working as a Director of Multistate Taxes – Research, Policy and Planning, for AT&T.  At AT&T, Jim worked on a variety of issues within the telecommunications arena.  With direct knowledge and experience in the various facets of telecommunications taxation, Jim has been primarily focused on transaction taxes as they relate to telecommunications and to the derivatives of telecommunications.  He is a frequent keynote and technical speaker at industry and tax events.
